With Latin American roots, we represent many foreign companies and individuals with litigation and other legal needs in Florida. For example, we successfully obtained a nearly $1 million judgment for one of the largest hardware distributors in all of Latin America against a Florida company that breached its contract with our client. As other examples of the breadth of our international practice, we have also represented a clothing manufacturer in the Netherlands in a copyright infringement case, and have provided copyright licensing advice to a well-known home fitness company based in Argentina.
International clients are faced with unique legal challenges, including those involving proper service of process under the Hague Convention and personal jurisdiction for purposes of determining whether a lawsuit must be defended in the United States or abroad. Because of our extensive international practice, we are uniquely situated to litigate and resolve these and other foreign-specific issues. Cases where we have represented an automotive paint repair client against a Canadian company and where we defended a Panamanian medical distributor highlight those experiences.
